Prof. Dr. İhsan Çiçek

Biography

He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Çorlu. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Physical Geography and Geology in 1983. He worked as a research assistant at Karadeniz Technical University, Fatih Faculty of Education between 1985-1987. In 1987, he started to work as a research assistant at the Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Geography, Sub-department of Physical Geography. In 1992, he completed his doctorate in the Department of Physical Geography, with his doctoral thesis titled "Physical Geography of the Isparta Plain and Its Surroundings" at the Department of Geography at Ankara University. He was appointed as assistant professor in 1992, associate professor in 2005, and professor in 2010. He served as the Vice President of the Department of Geography between 1993-1999, Head of the Department of Geography between 2011-2017, Member of the University Administrative Board between 2013-2015, Faculty Senate Representative between 2015-2016, and Faculty Dean between 2016-2020. He is a member of many national and international professional organizations and has been serving as the Vice President of the Turkish Geography Institute since 2013. He has also been a TÜBİTAK BİDEB Advisory Board Member since 2020. Climatology studies the physical causes of climate change and urban climatology. He has many articles in his field, including international and national book chapters and articles published in foreign languages. He is married and has a child.
